I have few words, because there are no words to describe the depths that the terrible (barely) human being Donald Trump.
I understand that anger and xenophobia should be met with kindness, with compassion. It is true that saintlike patience and healing are the way to move forward.
With that said, let me say this about this racist person and the tens of millions of racist people who voted for him:
I wake up every day hoping to find a way forward in this country in spite of you, not because of you. Your ignorance, your baseless anger, your incompetence with and denial of the truth have formed an evil spirit that seeks to keep everyone in the gutter of self-loathing you feel every single day.
I won’t be dragged into that gutter with you, I will rise above it. But I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to forgive you for inflicting this national nightmare upon us. It has made so many people needlessly miserable in defense of a system of hellish white supremacy.
Besides, it’s not up to me to forgive you. You need to be asking forgiveness from the people of Haiti, from the people of Africa, from the people of El Salvador, from the people of Mexico who you began your ascent by insulting. You should beg forgiveness from the women you sexually assaulted, from the business owners you ripped off, from the members of the press you insulted and threatened.
That’s all I have to say. Go vote this jerk and his enablers out of office.
