When I make a claim on this blog, I like to back it up with proof.
An example would be something like the following: the Kardashian extended family are shameless cultural appropriators who couldn’t give two flying ducks about the communities of color where those styles originated.
It’s hard to label someone with an ugly soul and back it up with incontrovertible evidence. After all, many of us like to believe there is some good in all of us. Indeed, even shameless grifters like Joel Osteen have shown that they are capable of change.
Trump is not capable of changing for the better. Trump could look a sick baby in the face and ask the parents if they watch “The Apprentice” and “wasn’t he so much better than Arnold?” Even some of the people who foolishly supported him are beginning to understand the scale of the train wreck they’ve wrought upon this country.
This national malice has been on full display these past few days. When Trump pardoned Keystone Cop Joe Arpaio in the middle of a natural disaster, he did it for “higher ratings“, as if pardoning a racist who terrorized Latino families is something to be proud of. When Trump visited the areas affected by Hurricane Harvey, he used the opportunity to plug his own merchandise. When Trump visited the areas affected by Hurricane Harvey, he declined to visit Houston. When Trump visited the areas affected by Hurricane Harvey, he offered not empathy, but a self-important discussion about crowd size and the newfound fame of Brock Long.
Who among us can look hurricane victims in the eye and say those kinds of things? Who can have zero empathy for individuals who have lost their homes?
