Every day we discover yet another disgusting dimension to Trump’s putrid personality.
Today, more than a year later after trying to play Muslims and members of the LGBT community against each other, Trump instituted a ban on transgender troops serving in the military.
There is absolutely no justification for this action. If you don’t trust your instincts to tell you that, like anyone else of a different skin color or sexual orientation, there wouldn’t be any disruption to service operations, I’ve got good news: A RAND study indicated that there would be no disruption to service operations by integrating transgender troops into the military.
I can’t personally ding Donald Trump for draft dodging too much: I am a pacifist. I’ve never shot a gun in my life, nor will I. I don’t believe in violence as a way to resolve conflict and I am firmly against our drone program and armed conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. I would most definitely choose the Muhammed Ali way out of any type of compulsory military service.
But I know that my principles are only personal beliefs and do not reflect the current reality of geopolitics. At this moment in time as a nation, we need a military and we need people to serve in it. And we should not turn away people from that service because of who they are.
The most surprising part of this awful play today is that when questioned about the policy reasoning behind the move, a Trump advisor gave an answer that the move was a political one. An honest answer out of the Trump administration? There’s a shocker.
