A critical hearing in the Senate is taking place today with Jeff Sessions.
Following revelations that he had multiple undisclosed meetings with Russian officials, Sessions is facing a whole lot of heat about potentially committing perjury during his confirmation hearing. Additionally, he faces allegations of lying on his security clearance, which is a felony.
Sessions has done some wicked things as attorney general. From making personal requests to raid medical marijuana facilities to turning his back on victims of police brutality, Sessions actions have been consistent with his racism, which is notorious enough that Coretta Scott King personally addressed it. He has committed another big sin here and there may not be a way out.
Al Franken, a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, has hinted that the third undisclosed meeting with the Russian ambassador had been documented with intercepted communications. It’s critical that we know exactly what they were talking about in light of a Bloomberg story this morning which details how Russian hackers breached 39 states voting systems.
Jeff Sessions is named after two Confederate icons: Jefferson Davis and P.G.T. Beauregard. Those two individuals committed some of the worst treason offenses in the history of the United States. Whether Sessions will join them in this nefarious place in history hinges on what happened during the 2016 election, what will take place today and his actions moving forward.
