The debacle that was the Fyre Festival is one of the most apt symbols of our society today.
In the build up to this re-enactment of “Lord of the Flies” for children of the wealthy and well-connected, the event was heavily promoted by none other than noted Instagram model and marketer Kendall Jenner. The event, organized by Fox News Business Analyst and creator of the album “Pain Is Love” Ja Rule, was billed as an immaculate experience in the Bahamas, where beautiful models would walk the beaches as the world’s best musical artists performed well into the night. People could pay thousands, to tens of thousands, to hundreds of thousands of dollars for an experience they would never forget.
The reality was far different, but equally unforgettable.
The accommodations were tents that leaked with no mattresses or pillows. Baggage was stored in metal shipping containers with no security. The security that was there was intensely shady. And at one point, in a twist worthy of an M. Night Shyamalan movie, festival goers were refused exit from the grounds. Don’t take my word for it though, read this incredible account from someone who was there.
This festival is the most 2017 to happen in 2017. A bait-and-switch scam targeting people who didn’t know better, promoted by a clan that has built an empire on a unintellectual vapidity, got thousands of people to fall for it and turned out to be an experience from hell.
