Day 74: An O’Reilly Revolt

In the past 24 hours, we’ve seen a lot of movement away from Bill O’Reilly and The O’Reilly Factor.

Following a bombshell New York Times report on an astounding $13 million dollars paid out for sexual harassment settlements at the hands of Bill O’Reilly, advertisers are fleeing the show. At least nine advertisers have pulled ad buys from the show and O’Reilly has not issued any statement since the story dropped.

It’s sad that it took this long to happen. O’Reilly has a long history of racism in addition to  his history of domestic violence and sexual harassment. But, much like Milo Yiannopoulos, this dog could finally have its (long overdue) day.

This is going to sound weird, but if you can, please watch The O’Reilly Factor and make a note of who advertises on the show. Then call them and tell them to pull their ads or you won’t buy their products.

And frankly, this shouldn’t be limited to The O’Reilly Factor. Fox News, Breitbart, Drudge Report and others all deserve the same boycott. Our news should be free of bias, not tainted by it. We deserve better than characters arguing at each other about moral high ground and partisan hackery talking points. We deserve real news. We deserve information and to have policy dissected for us. We deserve fearless reporting and a press that sees its only job is to hold power accountable, not to make friends or money.

We deserve better than O’Reilly, Ailes, Bannon, Jeff Zucker and their entire ilk.
