Day 66: Devin’s Dumb Divulgence

It’s hard to get good help in the Trump White House. Maybe Jared will make some changes.

One of their investigators and surrogates, Rep. Devin Nunes, who despite being a surrogate for Trump is somehow still leading the investigation surrounding his activities with Russia.

He made a fairly outlandish statement last week when he declared, without the knowledge of the committee’s Democratic representatives, that Trump had indeed been maliciously wiretapped by the Obama administration during the 2016 campaign, contradicting the word of everyone (including foreign countries and all American intelligence agencies) except for Donald Trump.

Nunes then backtracked on his claims a little bit, stating that he wasn’t sure if the Trump team was surveilled and apologized to the Democrats on the committee for unspecific actions. He then admitted to the press that he met his unnamed source on the grounds of the White House, rather than a sensitive compartmented information facility on Capitol Hill.

Nunes now refuses to recuse himself. This is completely unacceptable.

It is one of the most naked displays of party over country that we’ve seen thus far in the Trump saga. By accepting his position and place in this investigation, the Republicans are betraying this country yet again.

The party subverts American values with their attitude toward minorities, women and science. They may now be subverting national security with their prioritization of partisan protection over protecting our democracy.
